Treating Baby Acne
Acne problems are not restricted just to teenagers. Frequently caused by changes in the hormonal balance, acne can also affect babies as well. Acnes are visible and usually occur on the face, back, chest and neck.
Baby acne causes irritation on the baby's skin and occurs on the baby's cheeks, forehead and also on the chin and back. The baby's problems can be aggravated if his or her skin is sensitive or hot.
Sensitive Treatment
Baby acnes are unrelated to tiny bumps that appear on the baby's face during birth. Baby acne is caused either from contact with oily substances and/or if your baby is undergoing some medication.
Biologically, the maternal hormones that are passed on the baby after the pregnancy ends can also be a cause of baby acne. Obviously, a baby is too young to understand the problem of acne. As parents, you may be more worried with the problem.
Baby acne does not hurt or causes itching sensation and your baby does not even notice that acne on his or her face. However, if the problem aggravates the acne becomes swollen and causes inflammation. This results to your baby's fussiness and if the problem worsens if it always better to consult a child specialist to stop further aggravation of the problem.
Baby acne usually takes few weeks to get cured completely. But the acne may come and go until your baby is six months old. Only when the acne is serious and causes irritation and inflammation, that consultation with a medical practitioner is necessary.
Use Mild Soap
Baby's skin is very sensitive. So we should not do generally what we do to cure our acne. Use a very mild soap on your baby's face and wash it with plain water and if his or her skin is very sensitive then use lukewarm water to clean the face. Do not put any lotions or oil secreting substances that can aggravate the acne problem.
Use a very mild detergent that is made for sensitive skin to wash your baby's clothes. Baby acne problem should be treated with care. Never use make up on baby's face to hide the appearances of acne. Baby acne problems cannot be treated like that.
If it very necessary to hide those marks on your baby's face, then be careful to use only chemical free concealers that work for sensitive skins and also do not harm your baby's face.
